1992 VERSION - The second version
The first complete version still in black & white.
Back in 1992 i decided to remake my old 1988 Ziph story to enter a national comics competition. I had a tight deadline to come up with something and so i thought it would save me some time if adapted my early efforts with the adventures of Ziph.
This time i did complete the whole story and everything took me about 50 pages to do it. I went for an old visual approach wich i had seen in a "Lucky Luke" album where all the images have the same size of framing and only the content would vary to create the narrative and i don´t remember why i chose to do it like that anymore.
This 1992 version was completed in less than five weeks and despite its amateur style it ended up getting a special prize in the competition. The maximum number of pages to apply had been of 5 and i sent 50. They had to notice me.
This version ended up being published in a couple of magazines because of that.
Meanwhile at the same time, i started my professional career in Graphic Design in this same year and so I abandoned the making of Comics as back then as it is still now, Portugal has no market for comics, much less for national comics and i had to pay my bills doing something else for a living.
Important Note:
This early version sample, contains a couple of very important *Spoilers* ! So if you haven´t read the modern version to the very end yet, if i were you, i wouldn´t flip this 92 sample version on the side to the very end. ;)
